FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)...

Q. Do I need to contact my local phone company and/or long distance provider?
A. After you have given Cherryland authorization to switch your phone service, by returning a signed application, Cherryland will coordinate the switch for you. Unless a picFreeze was chosen by you only authorizing you to manually chose a carrier after we have submitted your application to your local carrier.

Q. How long before my service is switched?
A. Generally, the switch takes 7-10 business days.

Q. Who is TWN (Trans World Networks)?
A. TWN is a reseller of long distance phone service. By bringing together customers through electric cooperatives across America, TWN can purchase long distance minutes at very attractive rates and pass along the savings to you and me.

Q. Is TWN a long distance carrier?
A. No. TWN is a reseller. Qwest is the actual long distance carrier used by Cherryland and TWN.

Q. What is "local long distance?"
A. This is also known as IntraLATA phone service. You pay a long distance fee for both InterLATA and IntraLATA service. IntraLATA refers to those long distance calls made within your area code(s). For example, if you live in Grand Traverse County, any call to 231 or 616 would be within the same LATA.

Note: your local phone company may contact you to confirm that your really want to switch your local long distance service (IntraLATA). They do not want to lose this business. With Cherryland's program both IntraLATA and InterLATA service will be switched so you can maximize your savings. Cherryland's rates change by state not LATA. Calling within state costs 5.9 ¢ / minute and calling out of Michigan costs 5.9 ¢ / minute, regardless of LATA.

Q. Can my rates ever change?
A. Cherryland cannot guarantee these rates. However, a change in rates is not always a bad thing. Our calling card rate recently went down from 12.9 cents / minutes to 9.5 cents / minute. We will continue to strive towards providing you the lowest rates possible.

Q. What is the travel card (calling card) rate?
A. 9.5 cents per minute.
