Scholarships
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
Each school year, Cherryland Electric Cooperative offers a $2,400 college scholarship to a local high school senior.
High school seniors whose parents or guardians receive monthly electric service from Cherryland Electric Cooperative and live in Cherryland's service area may apply for a $2,400 scholarship ($600 each year for four years).
Selection for the Cherryland scholarship is based on acedemics, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and/or after-school employment. A minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4-point system is required.
To continue receiving the scholarship, a student must maintain a minimum college course load of 12 credits per term or semester and recieve a 2.5 grade point average.
Students interested in applying for the Cherryland scholarship should request an application from their high school guidance counselor.
ADULT SCHOLARSHIP
Cherryland also offers an adult education scholarship. This scholarship is in the amount of $250.
It is awarded once a year and goes to an adult who is furthering his or her education by taking college classes.
Selection is based on need and a written application to Cherryland electric. The recipient must be a Cherryland electric member.
TEEN DAYS & WASHINGTON D.C. TRIP
Each year, teen age students who live in Cherryland Electric's service territory qualify to go to Teen Days, which is held in Tustin, Michigan each year.
Student spend three days and two nights learning about electric cooperatives and meeting other teens their age from around the state.
Two teens from Cherryland are then selected to take an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. in June. Watch our Country Lines magazine for details beginning with the January issue each year.
